Development Assistance Fund of the National Art Museum of Ukraine was registered in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on April 27, 2001. Founders of the Fund are private individuals acting in various social areas: culture, business, social sphere, state and public organizations. The Fund consists of Kyiv City Department and regional Fund Departments: Volyn, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Kyiv Region, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Poltava, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Khmelnytsk and Chernivtsi. Goal of the Fund activities is accumulation of funds and other material resources for support of the National Art Museum, foundation of charity projects and programs, storage and promotion of visual art works, attraction of wide audience both, in Ukraine and abroad, creating conditions for the researchers’ expert level increasing, support of talented artists and cooperation with similar foreign foundations. Object of the Fund operations is the assistance in the National Art Museum of Ukraine’s sufficient activities, its development through charity projects and programs founding. Private individuals and/or legal entities registered in Ukraine, who participate in realization of the Charter tasks and goals, admit requirements of the Charter’s provisions and pay membership fees in material or money form can become members of the Fund. The Fund can have honorary membership. Private individuals and/or legal entities, who have done a great input into the art development, and manifest a desire to participate in the Fund activities, can become honorary members of it. The Fund supported over 25 exhibitions, projects and actions, namely, “Woman. Fashion. Time”, “Phenomenon of Ukrainian Avant-Garde. 1910–1935”, “Abram Manevych”, “Karlo Zvirynskiy”, “Art of Ex-libris”, “Landscape of a Picturesque Reserve”, “Volodymyr Orlovskiy and Mykola Pymonenko”, “The World of Svitoslavskiy”, “Ukrainian History in the Visual Art”, “Roman and Magrit Selskiy”, “Oleksand Arkhypenko and His Successors”, “Ukrainian Portrait of ХVІ–ХVІІІ Centuries”, “ХХ Century. Selected Works from Collection of the National Art Museum of Ukraine”, “Tetiana Yablonska. Seasons”, “Andriy Chebykin”, “New Entries”, «The Amazon of Avant-Garde. Oleksandra Ekster». The Fund supports “Ideal Museum” program. Goal of this program is to educate museum experts on the basis of the National Art Museum of Ukraine through the series of lectures and trainings on topical museum issues. Series of trainings (“Efficient Museum Management” educational series, the International educational seminar on museum pedagogics “Let’s Play Museum”, the working meeting and round table “Problems of Museum Construction and Technical Equipment”, etc.) were held in the frames of this program. Under the aegis of the project by virtue of cooperation between the National Art Museum of Ukrane, the Fund and “Artania Nova” Publishing House a fundamental album “The National Art Museum of Ukraine” to its 100th Anniversary. The album was awarded with various prizes on Ukrainian and international level book exhibitions. Another publishing project performed under the assistance of the Funs is the “Muzeiniy Provulok (Museum Lane)” Magazine on museum and general art issues. The Fund also supported publication of “Kamianets at Podillia” book, participated in the publishing coordination of albums with the National Art Museum of Ukraine’s collection works – “Icon Painting from Collection of the National Art Museum of Ukraine of 12–19 centuries” and “Ukrainian Painting of XX Century”, “Serhiy Svitoslavskiy”, etc. In the latter days it has established the materials publication base on the seminars held in the museum (including, “Readings in memory of Biliashivskiy”), and the museum publications’ distribution among the Ukrainian museums. Activities of the Fund became a new page in the museum work on its collection completing. One of the first works transferred by the Fund was “Tsyhanka (Gipsy Woman)”, the painting of famous Ukrainian avant-gardist Viktor Palmov (1919–1920) – the gift of the Honorary Chairman of the Fund, Ihor Mitiukov. Within the following years the Fund had purchased paintings of Lviv artist L.Medvid “Zhovtiy (Yellow)” (1991) and “Inventaryzatsia (Inventarization)” (1995). In 2004 Petro Bahriy, one of the founders of the Fund, at Vienna auction purchased at his own cost and presented to the museum a composition of the outstanding avant-gardist Oleksand Arkhipenko called “Zhinocha Figura (Woman’s Figure)” (1914). It was a sensational event considering the art value of the sculpture and nearly a total lack of the famous Ukrainian sculptor’s works at his motherland. The work by O.Arkhipenko, “Zhinocha Figura (Woman’s Figure)”, was included into the collection of “Ukrainian Modernism. 1910–1930” exhibition and had been shown within 2006–2007 in the USA (Chicago, New-York). In the virtue of Odessa Department of the Fund (charged by Mr.S.Savchenko) museum collection was completed with works of Odessa artists in 2006: V.Strelnikov, O.Stovbur, V.Sad, V.Maryniuk, S.Savchenko, V.Altanets, V.Basanets and others. Collection of works and archive of Oleksa Hryshchenko were transferred to Ukraine under the support of the Fund Through the activities of one of the founders – Ms. Filia Zhebrovska – museum collection received woks by Liubomyr Medvid and Viacheslav Klokov in 2006-2007. Works by Mykola Mazur, Viktor Hontariv and Andriy Antoniuk are the gifts of founders (respectively) Mr.Anatoliy Melnyk, Mr.Fedir Shpyha and Mr.Serhiy Bondarchuk, the Fund member. |
