MUSIC: SEEING THE SOUND

28.12.2013-16.02.2014

The grand opening is held on December 28, 2013, at 12 pm

For the eighth year in a row National Art Museum of Ukraine prepares a large-scale educational project. Its goal is to see the art together with the audience and to discover new possibilities for its understanding. This year's project goes beyond traditional museum topics as it is dedicated to the interaction of Fine Arts and Music.

Museum space will be filled with music in various forms and incarnations. And it won't be just a background for observing pictures. Music will become a valuable interlocutor, in dialogue with which the new meaning of images can be revealed. We will try to hear music in colors and see the sound of canvases. It is only at first glance that music and art are based on different principles. In fact, they have a lot in common - both in the strength of emotional impact and in the forms, structures, and means.

Exposition presents the works of Hruhoriy Svitlytsky, Fedir Manailo, Viktor Palmov, Sonia Delone, and other Ukrainian artists from the collection of NAMU, sketches for the theatre by Anatoliy Petrytsky and Oleksandr Khvostenko-Khvostov, and also musical instruments from MTMCU.

The program of the opening: interactive musical program conducted by Myroslava Kotorovych and chamber ensemble ARTEHATTA.

As a part of the project every Saturday from December 28 till February 15 workshops, meetings with musicians and artists, and also The Piano in Playroom, the series of concerts by pianist Yevhen Hromov, will be held in the museum.
