cordially invites you to the lecture of Kateryna Andreeva
“Absurdity as a moving force of contemporary art”
which will be held on September 7, 12:00
Intonation of absurdity is a part of the most important movements of contemporary times. Theatre and literature, performance, abstract painting, and the art of objects: all the way from Malevich’s Black Square up to the installations of Ilya Kabakov fits in the tradition of the absurdity. In the words of Peter Sloterdijk, recently the value of the "outstanding ability of art to adapt the negativity," significantly increased. The question is into what this negativity transforms. How to understand and apply the method of the absurd? We are looking for the answer to these questions in the works of Daniel Harms, Ilya Kabakov, Tymur Novikov, Andriy Monastyrskyi, Vladyslav Mamyshev, Oleh Kotelnykov, Kostyantyn Zvezdochotov, Ivan Sotnikov, Anatolii Osmolovskyi, and other russian artists of the decades of change.
The lection will be based on the books of Kateryna Andreeva All and Nothing, Postmodernism, Angle of Inconsistency with emphasize on the last one.
Entrance ticket is requested.
